WE'RE A LOCAL VOLUNTEER GROUP THAT PACKS AND DELIVERS FOOD BAGS TO SCHOOLS FOR STUDENTS TO TAKE HOME ON WEEKENDS.

OUR MISSION

The goal of the program is to reduce food insecurity for school aged children in the Annapolis Valley during times when schools are closed. Over 200 bags are given to students every week

Feeding Hungry Kids Is Our Goal!

Of all of the needs in our school, food is the most evident. The need is greater than you would expect.

FACT:

  • 1 in 4 kids in Nova Scotia lives in poverty

  • 1 in 6 experience food insecurity

  • Child poverty in Kings-Hants has increased 5% since 2020.

  • We are in 15 schools and provide 200 bags a week.

Schools have breakfast and lunch programs. This program provides food when schools are out.

Each week 100 bags of food are given to Annapolis Valley students.

How the Program Works

The Valley After the Bell volunteers purchase and package the food.

SchoolsPlus or volunteers delivers the food to local schools.

AVRCE Schools distribute the food to kids.
